THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ontario urge the Government of Ontario to:
a) Take direction from the three Principles and Policy Objectives set out in the Report women’s Voices Women’s Choices;
b) Strive with other ministries, community agencies, committees, specialized service providers business and various organizations to implement the changes required to prevent conditions that contribute to the primary involvement of young women in crime;
c)Address the current and future placement needs of female young offenders in particular and the incarceration of all women I their home communities whenever possible;
d)Acknowledge that the incarceration of mothers should be used only with discretion and after consideration of the unique needs of the female offender and her own reality;
e)Continue the effort that the Women’s Issues Task Force began and immediately take the recommended action steps described in their report.
