THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario to recognize and take action on the recommendations of the Romanow report, in regards to Home Care being the next essential service under the umbrella of the Health Care system as stated in the "Directions for Change" (page 171). Specifically: Introduce a new program to provide ongoing support for informal caregivers. Use the proposed new Home Care Transfer to establish a national platform for home care services.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Ontario urges the Government of Ontario to encourage and work with the Government of Canada in: Revising the Canada Health Act to include coverage for home care services in priority areas.
Improving the quality of care and support available to people with mental illnesses by including home mental health case management and intervention services as part of the Canada Health Act.
Expand the Canada Health Act to include coverage for post-acute home care including medication management and rehabilitation services.
Providing Canada Health Act coverage for palliative home care services to support people in their last six months of life.
Introduce a new program to provide ongoing support for informal caregivers.
