Comments:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario reaffirm our resolutions passed in 1984 –1990 (Res 200.20.8; 200.20.9; 200.20.10; 200.20.11; 200.20.13; 200.20.14; 200.20.15; 200.20.16; 200.20.17) and strongly urge the Government of Ontario to enact, by the end of 1992, Bill 168, An Act to Amend the Pay Equity Act, and to implement in a timely manner:
i.Pay Equity based in proportional value in both the public and the private sectors; and
ii.Pay Equity by proxy comparison in the public sector; and
iii.The requirement that employers in the private sector with 10 or more employees, post a notice of their Pay Equity obligations when they become due, including information about the manner in which an employee may file a complaint under the OPEA.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario reaffirm their resolutions passed in 1986-Res 200.20.11, 1988-Res 200.20.13, 1989-Res 200.20.15 and 1990-Res 200.20;6, and strongly urge the Government of Ontario to continue to implement Pay Equity and to further amend the Pay Equity Act of Ontario to:
i.Include Private Sector employers with fewer than 10 employees (1988, '89, '90); and
ii.Put a cap on the length of time that Private Sector employers have to make pay equity adjustments (1988).
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario urge the Government of Ontario:
i.To review the impact of the Pay Equity process and the Equal Pay provisions in the Employment Standards Act in achieving the objective of Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value between female and male employees; and
ii.Based in this review to introduce comprehensive legislation to ensure this objective on an ongoing basis.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT with the passing of the above resolution, the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario remove the following resolutions from the Resolution Handbook and take the appropriate action as indicated:
