THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ontario urge the Government of Ontario to:
·Not repeal or make any changes to the Pay Equity Act, or make any changes to or introduce any new legislation having an impact on pay equity plans, until the entire process of the legislation has been carried out.
·Ensure that all working women in Ontario have access to pay equity.
·Ensure that the Pay Equity Act remains proactive, not complaints-based.
·Ensure that the enforcement mechanisms of the Pay Equity Act be strengthened.
·Ensure that for non-unionized women a strong Pay Equity Commission is maintained to educate, advocate and assist them.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ontario re-affirm Resolution 1993 Res 200.20.19
