RESOLUTION:THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Ontario urge the Government of Ontario to ensure that before it releases its involvement in tribunals and collection agencies to the private sector, a number of factors should be considered to ensure the accountability, confidentiality, financial structure and appointments to such bodies:
a)Information that flows to these agencies should only be information in which the agency is involved.
b)A cross check of proper credentials, references, Better Business Bureau records and personal background checks should be done when businesses tender on a bid with the government. This will ensure that the highest degree of ethics are found in a business that receives the bid and that the citizens of the Province of Ontario are dealing with a safe and credible business.
c)The government regulations for the individual piece of legislation should specify a structure of fees for certain services be stated and who will pay for them should be set out by the Government and stipulated in the regulation.
d)Appointments to tribunals should ensure that the equity partners are represented. Resolution 1996 (Res 400.10.16) Women and appointments to Agencies, Boards and Commissions is reaffirmed.
